
		国立感染症研究所 National Institute of Infectious Diseases ( NIID ) 研究所における業務の目的は、感染症を制圧し、国民の保健医療の向上を図る予防医学の立場から、広く感染症に関する研究を先導的・独創的かつ総合的に行い、国の保健医療行政の科学的根拠を明らかにし、また、これを支援することにある。この機能は、① 研究業務、② 感染症のレファレンス業務、③ 感染症のサーベイランス業務、 ④ 国家検定・検査業務、⑤ 国際協力関係業務、 ⑥ 研修業務等の業務に整理される。
		難病情報センター
		難病情報センター　Japan Intractable Diseases Information Center 難病情報センターは、公益財団法人難病医学研究財団が、いわゆる難病のうち、厚生労働省が難治性疾患克服研究事業（臨床調査研究分野）の対象としている疾患を中心に厚生労働省からの補助及び協力を得て、平成9年度よりホームページを開設し、関係情報の提供を行っています。

		国立感染症研究所｜感染症情報センター我が国のサーベイランス事業の一環として、全国の地方衛生研究所からの病原体検出報告及び感染症法に基づく定点診療所等からの患者発生状況を当研究所で集計評価し、その結果を週報(IDWR) 及び月報(IASR)として国民に提供している。更に感染症の流行や集団発生時においては、その疫学調査、並びに外国の感染症情報機関と情報の交換を行う。これらの業務をより有効に推進する中核的組織として、1997年（平成 9）4 月には感染症情報センターが設置された。
